"The Bioenergy Group is an informal partnership of organisations from the private, public and not-for-profit sectors within the East Midlands region which are collectively seeking ways to increase the use of locally grown biomass for the creation of heat and energy."

The main focus of the group is currently on wood fuels, mainly woodchip and wood pellet; however the group will also aim to promote other forms of bioenergy in the future. We have a membership derived from the following sectors.

  • Fuel supply - forestry, agriculture and waste wood industries
  • Boiler suppliers
  • Potential users - both public and private sector
  • Business support and energy strategy agencies
  • Academic institutions

The group is currently chaired by the Forestry Commission.
